All materials are made from natural inputs with no plaster of Paris, no plastics and no chemical or oil paints, so they dissolve during eco-friendly visarjan. Read more about each type in our Shadu Mati and Paper Lagda guides, or see how they are made on our manufacturing & artisans page.
Because devotional idols are highly sacred, experiencing any transit cracks is considered extremely inauspicious. Traditional Shadu clay idols are highly brittle, making global export extremely risky.
At Devta, we solve this by crafting export idols from upcycled Paper Lagda (Paper Mache), bound with vegetable starch. Because this compound is lightweight and flexible rather than rigid like fired clay, it is shatter-resistant and far less prone to transit cracking than brittle Shadu Mati — making it the material we recommend for long-distance sea and air freight.
Direct answers to the questions B2B and NRI buyers ask most. For anything specific to your shipment, our CEO replies within 24 hours.

Yes. Our idols are made from 100% natural unbaked Shadu Mati clay or upcycled paper pulp with vegetable-starch binders, with no plaster of Paris, no plastics and no chemical or oil paints. They are hand-painted with natural pigments such as turmeric (haldi), red geru and multani mitti, so they dissolve in water during visarjan.
Devta ships to 16 countries: India, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Fiji, Brazil, Kenya, South Africa and Mauritius.
Each idol is cushioned in a heavy 5-ply inner protective box with thermal pads and internal thermocol molds shaped to the idol, with silica-gel dehumidifiers, then secured inside an ISPM-15 compliant fumigated wooden crate suitable for sea and air freight.
Yes. Devta is a DGFT-licensed exporter (IEC AAJCD6094K) and coordinates customs clearance documentation, LCL consolidation and FCL container shipping from JNPT Port, Mumbai, with ocean-freight partners.
Idols are hand-molded and slow shade-dried (clay idols dry for 14–21 days) before painting and packing, so bulk orders are made to schedule. Confirmed production and transit lead times for your shipment are provided with your quote.
